Fazer's raspberry liquorice chocolate and the ITK Conference

I remind myself from time to time how we learn. Following the lecture only contributes a little for deep learning, while in practice by doing we attach knowledge, skills, and attitudes to ourselves very well. And the best way to store knowledge and skills in myself, is to teach. Now you also could do this in the Digiskills’ learning circle because learning is interaction. Join us or start your own!

At the ITK conference, Halonen and Lonka (whom I am a fan of) reminded us that learning is interactive creation, it is not one-way and can be considered a culturally negotiated state that is context specific (Halonen, N. and Lonka, K., 2.12.2021). For us, learning at SeAMK is at the core and each of us is responsible, not only for our own, but also for others learning. And I’m not just talking about teachers. Only when everyone helps everyone, staff helping students and vice versa, can we talk about community learning at SeAMK. And I am referring here to learning as a state of mind that gives room for growth and enables the creation of knowledge together. Monological, dialogical and trialogical learning also apply in expertise. Learning is a state of mind that is at its best community learning.

When learning communally and digitally, we can overcome the limitations of working memory, receive visual and concrete support, deepen our dialogical awareness and interaction, which is supported by technology, repetition enabled, and we can return to the topic. In addition, we are developing creative ways of solving problems. Halonen and Lonka claim that the basic need for an information worker is to develop together. (Halonen, N. and Lonka, K., 2.12.2021.)

Humanoid robot delighted

In the robot hackathon, we programmed a customer service situation with different options in QiChat script language on the Elias Robot application platform and tested the functionality of the code using the NAO6 humanoid robot manufactured by Softbank Robotics. The experiment was interesting, and it was fun to get to know new people and the humanoid robot in practice, and even physically in the same space. I wonder if there will be a little cute humanoid robot sitting on the edge of my desk in the future for which I can curse haste and techno stress, and it would kindly tell me things I want to hear, and the most important thing, perhaps, is that it “listens.” We also sweet-talk to pets.

Technology changes nothing

Technology changes nothing unless we change our ways of doing things in everyday life. The ways of learning remain the same, only the context changes. Technology either supports or hinders communal knowledge creation and development. Learning is interactive creation, and we all play an important role in the SeAMK community.

Would you like a monological learning as a starter, dialogical as the main course and trialogical as a dessert? Have a great learning!

P.S. Our group won the robot hackathon, and we received chocolate as a reward. Pavlov’s dogs appreciate it.
